This latest stroke of good fortune means that France, which was already the luckiest participating nation in terms of jackpot wins, has now won all or part of 79 jackpots since the EuroMillions game began in 2004. Ireland, having a much smaller population, has been involved in fewer jackpot wins, but Friday’s success increased its modest jackpot-winning tally to 8.
