New Zealand Powerball has reached its second highest jackpot ever, offering players the chance to play for a NZ$34 million windfall on Wednesday night. It is the game’s biggest top prize since 2009 when a family syndicate from Masterton, around 100km north west of Wellington, scooped NZ$36.9 million. A man from Auckland, who chose to stay private, banked the previous second-highest total of NZ$33 million in 2013.
