Lucky Lotto Player Lands £24.5 Million

Postby lottery.co.uk » Thu 28 Dec 17, 10:10

A single ticket holder became the biggest Lotto winner of the year on Wednesday night, despite not even matching all six main numbers. The lucky participant picked up a colossal £24.5 million, setting themselves up for the perfect start to 2018. The jackpot had to be given away last night after passing its £22 million cap in the previous draw. Under Lotto rules, there could not be another rollover and the money had to be won even if nobody was able to match all six main numbers. The numbers drawn were 18, 36, 48, 57, 58 and 59, along with Bonus Ball 50. Nobody did match all six main numbers, so the jackpot had to roll down to the next prize tier in which there were winners, and there was only one player who matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball. Andy Carter, the National Lottery’s Senior Winners’ Advisor, said: “Wow - a single ticket holder has banked the £24.5 million jackpot in this special must-be-won draw. The jackpot rolled down and they only matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball to bank the biggest sum won on Lotto in 2017.”
