A lucky player from Louisiana scooped a Powerball jackpot of $191.1 million on Wednesday 25th October, becoming the state’s 16th big winner. The top prize had been growing since a ticket holder from Colorado won $133.2 million on Saturday 16th September. The numbers drawn were 18, 22, 29, 54 and 57, with Powerball 8. More than 715,000 participants across the US bagged prizes, including two players who matched five numbers to receive $1 million each, but the night belonged to the big winner from Louisiana. There was no immediate word on where the ticket was purchased, but the winner will now have 180 days to come forward and claim their prize. They will also have to decide whether to take the full jackpot amount as an annuity over 29 years, or a one-off lump sum. The cash option had been advertised at $119.4 million ahead of Wednesday’s draw.
