The members of an Irish Lotto syndicate which won €7.5 million on Wednesday 25th October have revealed that members of their own families still do not know about the incredible success story. The lucky group of friends from Co Tipperary plan to break the news when the time is right, as they want the windfall to help their loved ones for decades to come. The syndicate has been together for six years and take it in turns to buy tickets. The all-important entry for the draw on 25th October was bought at the Eason’s store in Thurles Shopping Centre, on the day before the draw, but the woman who purchased it initially found it difficult to come to terms with the news. She told Irish National Lottery officials this week that she had received such a fright when she checked her numbers that she hid the winning slip inside a book. She went about her business as usual for five days, before summoning up the courage to go back and open up the book, verifying that she and her friends had a ticket worth millions on their hands.
